    Product Details

2" Ruby Necklace (Othonna capensis) is a fast-growing, trailing succulent featuring bean-shaped leaves on purple-tinted stems. It is often called a "purple flush" succulent because its foliage turns vibrant magenta, red, or purple under direct sun and stress. It is an easy-care, sun-loving plant that produces small, yellow, daisy-like blooms and thrives in hanging baskets.
    Key Characteristics and Care:
    • Coloration: Turns from green to deep purple/red with bright, direct sunlight.
    • Appearance: Features slender purple stems and succulent leaves resembling beans.
    • Light Needs: Prefers full sun to bright, indirect light; low light makes it turn green and leggy.
    • Watering: Drought-tolerant; allow soil to dry completely between waterings.
    • Soil & Temperature: Requires well-draining soil, such as a cactus mix. It is not cold-hardy, preferring temperatures between 50°F and 80°F (10°C - 27°C).

    Plant Care Tips

    Light
Place succulents where they get at least 6 hours of bright, indirect sunlight each day. A sunny windowsill is ideal.

    Watering
Let the soil dry out completely between waterings. Water deeply, then drain any excess. Overwatering is the most common cause of problems.

    Soil
Use a well-draining cactus or succulent soil mix. Good drainage keeps roots healthy.

    Containers
Choose pots with drainage holes. Avoid decorative pots without drainage unless you use them as covers.

    Temperature
Succulents prefer warm conditions. Keep them away from freezing temperatures and protect from drafts.

    Fertilizing
Feed lightly with a balanced, diluted fertilizer during the growing season (spring and summer). No need to fertilize in winter.

    Pruning & Propagation
Remove any dead leaves from the base to prevent pests. Many succulents can be propagated from leaf or stem cuttings.
